A powerful centre-forward with a good goal-scoring record throughout his career, Yakubu Ayegbeni will be a threat to any opposing team at the World Cup. Signed by Portsmouth from Maccabi Haifa in 2003, he spent two years at the club, before joining Middlesbrough. Signed by Everton in 2007, he has featured regularly for the Toffees, despite ongoing injury problems. One of a number of talented strikers in the Nigeria squad, Yakubu will expect to start. His direct approach is perfectly suited to the team's aggressive style of play, and his ability to hold the ball up and bring other players into the game could bring the best out of a limited side.
