Ecuador vs. France
Minute Commentary
90' FULL TIME REPORT
Ecuador and France shared the points in the final Group E match of this World Cup as they played out a stalemate in Rio de Janeiro. France were by far the better team but just didn't have the same cutting edge as they had done in their previous two games - in which they scored a combined eight goals. The French started off the better side and nearly went ahead in superb style as Moussa Sissoko's volley tested Alexander Dominguez's awareness. Dominiguez was then at it again, keeping out Paul Pogba's header in theatrical style. Ecuador's best chance of the half came through Enner Valencia, as the three-goal man leaped well to head towards goal, but Hugo Lloris was there to block. The second half was more eventful with both sides having more chances. It got off to a disastrous start for the South Americans when Antonio Valencia was handed his marching orders for going in with his studs showing. Four minutes later they should have led, but Christian Noboa miscued his effort from inside the box. Dominguez made a string of excellent saves to keep France at bay. France qualify alongside Switzerland as Ecuador go home.
90' FULL TIME
That's it, full time and it finishes 0-0 in Rio.
90' GREAT SAVE
Dominguez is there again to keep France out! This time it's a header from an unmarked Giroud. It's good positioning from the Ecuadorian.
89' JUST WIDE
France come close yet again as Paul Pogba drags the ball round his man before setting himself and sending a shot no more than a foot wide of Dominguez's left-hand post.
85' GOOD SAVE
Alexander Dominguez produces yet another save to keep out the French. Karim Benzema's effort from six yards is well palmed away. The keeper's been my man of the match, that's for sure.
82' CHANCE
It's not quite over yet as Ecuador give France a little scare. Sub Alex Ibarra cuts inside and sends a shot flying at Lloris, but the stopper saves well before Cristhian Noboa's second attempt is blocked.
80' ATTACKING SUB
Winger Antoine Griezmann's game is over and on comes Loic Remy, who likes to play as more of an out-and-out striker.
76' NOT GIVING UP
Michael Arroyo tries to use his strength to get by several Frenchmen as he looks to cause an upset for the ten men of Ecuador. He tries to do too much though and loses the ball.
73' SITTER
Ecuador fall asleep from a corner and Paul Pogba misses an absolute sitter. A ball is chipped to the far post and the former Man Utd man fails to direct a close-range header on target.
71' DESPERATE
France are desperate to finish the group stages with three wins out fo three and send on Olivier Giroud for Blaise Matuidi. He takes a ball down well which eventually falls to Morgan Schneiderlin - but the Southampton winger can only volley over the bar.
67' CORNERS
France have consecutive corners as they look to pile on the pressure as we reach the final quarter of the game. Some decent deliveries from Antoine Griezmann fail to be met with any tenacity.
64' CHANGE
It's a like-for-like switch Ecuador as Reinaldo Rueda opts to bring on Alex Ibarra for Jefferson Montero. He isn't quite as fast as Montero but will have a lot more energy to inject into the side at the current point.
62' BIG CHANCE
France have a big chance to take the lead as Blaise Matuidi gets into the box but sends a shot high towards the roof of the net, making it easier for Alexander Dominguez to save.
58' GOOD BLOCK
Moments after spurning a glorious chance for his side, Noboa makes amends by blocking Blaise Matuidi's shot from the edge of the area.
54' WHAT A CHANCE
Ecuador have a golden chance to take the lead as they break after Cristhian Noboa dispossesses Paul Pogba in the middle. It starts with the midfield man and ends with him. He sends it to Enner Valencia who shrugs off his man before slipping it back to Noboa. He slips as he shoots from just inside the area - great chance gone begging.
50' RED CARD
Ecuador are down to ten men! Antonio Valencia and Lucas Digne go in for a 50/50 challenge, but Digne ends up on the floor after Valencia's foot skids off the ball and into the French full-back. It's not intentional by any means, but it shows you can't go into any tackle with your studs showing.
47' EXCELLENT SAVE
Alexander Dominguez makes another fantastic save to keep his side level at 0-0. The ball is played in to Moussa Sissoko down the right. He whips a low cross in which is flicked goalwards by Antoine Griezmann, but he is thwarted by the Ecuador stopper's terrific reaction save.
46' SECOND HALF
We are underway in the second half and there are no changes to be seen.
45' HALF TIME REPORT
Ecuador and France go in level at 0-0 at half time in this final Group E game at the Maracana. France certainly started off the better side and put together some lovely flowing moves in the opening exchanges but couldn't find a way past Alexander Dominguez. Ecuador were never really on top but had their own chances. Moussa Sissoko showed superb technique to execute a volley that was heading for the bottom corner before Dominguez saved. France then came close again through Pogba, but Dominguez dove to his side's rescue. It was then Ecuador's turn to try and open the scoring - a ball into the far post was met by Enner Valencia after a excellent leap, but his header was blocked by the legs of Hugo Lloris in the French goal. Not a fantastic 0-0 so far, but far from boring.
45' HALF TIME
The ref blows his whistle and the first half is over.
44' MEAT AND DRINK
Karim Benzema tries to get past two defenders and eventually makes space with a nice Cruyff turn. He gets a shot off quickly, but his curler is at a good height for Dominguez who catches with ease.
41' GREAT CHANCE
Ecuador have their best chance of the game so far. Michael Arroyo does well down the left and sends a cross to the far post where Enner Valencia is waiting. He beats Lucas Digne in an aerial duel and heads downwards, but Hugo Lloris saves well with his legs.
39' ONE FOR THE CAMERAS
The ball in from Griezmann is a good one towards the far post, as Paul Pogba gets his head to it. Alexander Dominguez makes a good save, but it was definitely one for the cameras.
37' SILLY FOUL
Lucas Digne gets in behind Juan Paredes before the full-back barges him over to give away a needless foul near the corner area. Antoine Griezmann can whip them in good and proper from this position.
35' STILL 0-0
It's still 0-0 here though, which will be good enough for France to top the group and play Nigeria in the round of 16 - a tie you'd expect them to win comfortably. Ecuador have got into the game a little more in the last ten minutes though, so it could make for interesting viewing.
31' OTHER GAME
It's looking unlikely that Ecuador will go through to the knockout stages now, as Switzerland go 2-0 up against Honduras thanks to two brilliant goals from Xherdan Shaqiri. They could still do it, if they match the Swiss' result.
27' A FRIGHT
After Frickson Erazo clears a cross with an acrobatic overhead kick, Moussa Sissoko delivers a second ball into the box, which Alexander Dominguez jumps for and completely misses. Had Karim Benzema expected to get the ball, he'd have probably made it 1-0.
25' BAD EFFORT
Despite a goal in the last game against Switzerland, Blaise Matuidi tries an effort from 30 yards. Probably best he doesn't do that again, as he sees his miserable shot sail out for a throw-in.
21' HALF-CHANCE
Ecuador have a decent half-chance to take a shock lead when Schneiderlin carelessly loses possession in the middle. Enner Valencia strides forward but his pass into the path of Michael Arroyo has a little too much power on it and Hugo Lloris races off his line to smother.
19' MORE ATTACKS
The French's pressure is relentless. They stream forward once again and it comes out to Sissoko, who dinks a cross into the box. It's headed away before Antonio Valencia fouls Morgan Schneiderlin for a free kick. That comes to nothing though.
15' GOOD SAVE
Moussa Sissoko connects brilliantly with a volley to force Alexander Dominguez into a save at his bottom corner. It was brilliant technique from the Newcastle midfielder and would certainly have been a contender for goal of the tournament.
13' NEEDLESS PRESSURE
The South Americans invite pressure onto themselves as Alexander Dominguez plays a poor ball straight to Blaise Matuidi in the middle, who plays it out to Paul Pogba down the right. The Juve superstar goes to cross the ball but it's deflected out for a throw-in.
10' HALF-CHANCE
Ecuador get upfield for the first time with the speedy Jefferson Montero, he tries to beat his man but runs the ball out of play. Hugo Lloris punts the goal kick deep into Ecuador's half.
6' SUPERB PLAY
Just like in their opening two games, France are passing the ball about beautifully and Ecuador can't get the ball at all. Matuidi does well down the left-hand channel and wins a corner as Jorge Guagua deflects the ball out.
3' POSITIVE START
It won't come as a surprise that France have started on the front foot. They have the ball halfway through their opponents' half with Blaise Matuidi, who plays a few interchanging passes with his team-mates before finding Lucas Digne out wide. He beats Juan Paredes and cuts the ball back to Matuidi, whose first-time shot is cleared away.
1' UNDERWAY
It's Ecuador who get us underway at the Maracana.
0' ON THE FIELD
The players are out on the field for their respective national anthems. If France win tonight they'll play Nigeria in the next round.

0' PREVIEW
France take on Ecuador tonight at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro as they look to become the third team to take a 100% win record into the knockout stages. They face an Ecuador side who will be full of confidence on the back of a win against Honduras, and a striker with three goals in two games in the form of Enner Valencia. However, France had an even more so impressive victory against Switzerland, who of course scored a last minute winner against Educador. But it's sure to be an exciting game between the top two in the group.
0' FAVOURITES
When I watched the first round of fixtures, Les Bleus impressed me more than any team I'd watched - even Germany, and it's evident that they are a rejuvenated side. Their World Cup campaign in South Africa four years ago truly is just a bad memory now. Didier Deschamps has got this side playing beautiful, quick-passing football and scoring for fun it seems, with Karim Benzema already on three for the tournament. They need to keep up this fantastic football if they're to go all the way. Nigeria look the likely candidates for France in the next round, though if there's a major mess-up by the French and Switzerland record a landslide victory, they could face Argentina. What a game that would be.
0' DOUBLE TROUBLE
Ecuador won't go into this game taking any precautions. They'll go all out for the win and will know, despite being caused problems by Honduras themselves, Switzerland will more than likely take all three points off of them. That would mean Ecuador need a win to advance on goal difference. However, in their ranks they have the two Valencias who could cause them big problems. Enner and Antonio. It's already known by many what the latter can do with his pace and trickery, but the former has burst onto the scene and his impressive tournament so far has attracted interest from the like of English Premier League clubs Spurs, Everton and Newcastle.
0' HEAD-TO-HEAD
These two have only met once before and that was a friendly in Grenoble in 2008, when a brace from debutant Bafetimbi Gomis gave France the win. Unfortunately for the French he's not in the squad so they'll have to make do with what they've got. Benzema, Remy and Giroud hardly mean Gomis is missed all that much.
0' REFEREE
Noumandiez Doue is in charge for the game tonight. The Ivorian took charge of Chile's 3-1 win over Australia in their opening match. He is the first referee from Cote d'Ivoire to partake in the FIFA World Cup and has previously taken charge of the African equivalent of the Champions League.
