Career Highlights:

Koos carries plenty of momentum into Sochi after winning his sixth national title at the U.S. cross-country championships just one month before the start of the Olympics. Whether that surge carries over to international competition, however, is another question. Koos’ victory Jan. 5 came in the freestyle sprint, an event he also he won in 2011 and '12. Yet he still has a long way to go if he hopes to reach the podium in Russia. A veteran of the last three Olympics, his best individual finish came at the 2002 Games, where he finished 35th in the sprint freestyle. He came in 36th in that event four years later at Turin and matched that result in Vancouver in the sprint classic. Koos, who became fully committed to sprinting in 2001, will be joined by fellow four-time Olympians Kikkan Randall and Kris Freeman in Sochi, giving the Americans one of the more veteran cross-country teams. He is the son of former U.S. national team biathlete Shaun Koos.
