Evans will make her Olympic debut in Sochi as a push athlete, with the driver and push athlete combinations still to be determined. As a brakeman for Elana Meyers, Evans won five medals in seven races this World Cup season. Meyers finished the season ranked No. 2 in the world, one point behind Kaillie Humphries of Canada. Evans is already familiar with the track in Sochi, capturing a silver medal there last season in a test event with Meyers. Evans made an impressive transition to the ice after she was a five-time All-American in track and field at the University of Illinois. She scored 794 out of a possible 800 points on the combine test, went on to win the 2012 U.S. national push championship title and broke the start record with driver Jamie Greubel in the 2012-13 team selection races - all as a rookie. Evans comes from a family of talented athletes. Her brother, Fred, is a defensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings, her uncle is Gary Matthews Sr., who played 15 seasons in the major leagues, and her cousin Gary Matthews Jr. was a productive MLB outfielder for 12 seasons.
