Career Highlights:

Miller enters his fifth Olympics already the most decorated male American alpine skier in history. His five Olympic medals are also the most of any American skier - male or female. He now heads to Sochi as a defending gold medalist for the first time after topping the podium in the super-combined four years ago in Vancouver. After a controversial and unsuccessful 2006 Games that produced no podiums after plenty of hype, he further silenced his critics in Vancouver by also winning silver in the super-G and bronze in the downhill, making him one of eight Olympians to win at least five career alpine medals after gathering silver in the giant slalom and combined at the 2002 Salt Lake Games. Miller’s 33 World Cup victories span all five alpine disciplines, and he is one of five men all-time to win at least once in the downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom and combined. Miller is also a two-time overall World Cup champion (2005, 2008) and five-time medalist at the world championships (four gold, one silver). The 36-year-old elected to sit out the entire 2013 World Cup season and the world championships after undergoing a spring 2012 operation on his left knee to repair a microfracture injury he originally sustained in 2001. He expects the knee to be stronger than it has been since the original injury, reiterating the decision to skip the entire season wasn’t a difficult one because it ensured one last healthy run at the Olympics.
