He was the absolute arm wrestling world champion among professionals from 2000-2004 and his win over legendary arm wrester John Brzenk was immortalized in the feature length documentary, "Pulling John." The film also chronicles his life and training in Russia. Voevoda then made the move to bobsled and has become one of the world's best brakemen. He won a silver medal in the four-man at the 2006 Olympics and captured bronze four years later in Vancouver in the two-man with pilot Alexander Zubkov. Soon afterward, Voevoda announced the end of his professional career, but he then changed his mind. He won gold in the two-man at the 2011 world championships and a bronze in 2008 in the same event. Voevoda had a pair of second-place finishes in the two-man in the 2013-14 World Cup and another in the four-man. He has dealt with several injuries throughout his career, falling out of a bobsled during a training run at the 2013 European championships. He hit his shoulder against a concrete wall and continues to experience pain from the injury. Voevoda, who resides in Sochi, became an honored citizen of the city and an ambassador for the 2014 Games in 2010.
