While she drew some attention for celebrating her boyfriend's win at the Vancouver Games, St-Gelais also claimed a pair of silver medals during those Olympics. She finished second in the 500 meters and was part of Canada's 3,000 relay team. She took two silvers and a bronze at the 2013 world championships after three strong World Cup seasons. St-Gelais won a combined 24 medals during those three seasons, including 12 in 2010-11. She earned a total of five silvers and one bronze in 2012-13 before finishing with just two bronzes this past season. St-Gelais' boyfriend, Charles Hamelin, enters Sochi as one of the favorites to collect some gold medals on the men's side, and they shared a notable lengthy embrace and kiss on the wall of the track after his win in the 500 meters in Vancouver. St-Gelais has never won a world title, but she finished second in 2013 in the 3,000, an event that's not held at the Olympics. She also came in third in the 1,500. She won bronze in the 500 in 2010 and earned her other six world medals in relays or as a member of a team. St-Gelais is a nine-time winner in World Cup competitions and has claimed 34 overall medals.
