Stastny is in his eighth NHL season - all with the Colorado Avalanche - and will be appearing in his second Olympics. He had a goal and two assists with the silver medal-winning team in 2010. Stastny also represented the US in the world championships in 2007 and 2013, when he served as captain and helped the Americans to a bronze - their first medal in the tournament since 2004 - with a team-leading 15 points. A playmaking center who has scored 20 goals five times and 17 in 52 games this season, Stastny had a career-best 28 in his 2006-07 rookie season and finished that campaign with 78 points, one less than his career high set in 2009-10. Stastny has settled into a second-line role with the Avalanche, yielding the top spot to emerging star Matt Duchene. Though he was born in Canada while his father, Hall of Famer Peter, was playing for the Quebec Nordiques, Stastny has dual citizenship and chose to play internationally for the United States, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Yan. Stastny's uncles, Anton and Marian, also played in the NHL after defecting from Czechoslovakia.
