Career Highlights: A bronze medalist at the 2008 Games, Sobirov heads to London ranked No. 1 in the world in the -60 kg weight class as of May 29. The Uzbekistan native more recently took home gold from the both the 2010 and 2011 world championships, and also won silver at the 2007 Asian championships. Sobirov, who won 32 of 34 matches in 2010 and all 20 in 2011, had won eight of nine this year before posting a fifth-place finish at the IJF Grand Slam Moscow in May. Sobirov came in second at the IJF Masters Almaty in January and first at the IJF Grand Slam Tournoi de Paris one month later.
