  • Career Highlights: Meyer became the first American to qualify for the 2012 Olympics by finishing fourth in the 10K at the 2011 World Championships after winning the 2011 USA Open Water National Championships. He captured gold in the 25K at the 2010 World Championships. Meyer also experienced success in the pool at Harvard. At the 2010 NCAA Championships, he finished 14th in the mile with the second-fastest time in school history, earning All-American status. At the Ivy League Championships that year, he swept the distance events, winning the 500, 1000 and 1650 freestyle races. Meyer was a close friend and roommate of Fran Crippen, who drowned in October 2010 at the World Cup final in the United Arab Emirates. Meyer carries a photo of Crippen everywhere he goes.
