Career Highlights: Adrian earned a return trip to the Olympics by winning the 100 meter freestyle event at the trials in June with a time of 48.10 seconds - fourth-fastest in the world this year. It came as no surprise since Adrian is one of the favorites to take home gold in London. He made his Olympic debut in Beijing in 2008 as part of the 400-meter freestyle relay team that won gold, although Adrian did not swim in the finals. He finished fourth in the 2008 trials to gain a spot, advancing to the final after defeating Alex Righi in a swim-off for eighth place in the semifinals. Those two finished tied for ninth, but Ryan Lochte withdrew to open up another spot in the final. Adrian has earned three golds at the world championships - all in relays. He was part of winning teams in the 400 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay in 2009, and the medley relay in 2011. Adrian is affectionately nicknamed ‘Bok Choi’ because his mother is of Chinese descent and was born and raised in Hong Kong.
