  • Career Highlights: A four-time Olympic gold medalist in relay events, Lezak qualified for London as part of the 400-meter freestyle relay team by finishing sixth in the 100 free at the U.S. trials. This opportunity only became possible when Ryan Lochte was scratched from the 100 free final, allowing Lezak to swim despite having the ninth-fastest semifinal time. His first Olympic success came in the 2000 Sydney Games as he was part of the medley relay team that took home gold while also earning a silver with the freestyle relay team. At the 2004 Athens Games, he added another medley gold as part of a world record-setting unit while gaining bronze in the freestyle relay. Lezak’s best Olympics came four years ago in Beijing when he earned golds in both relay events along with his first individual medal - a bronze in the 100 free. His stunning sprint to the finish in the 400 free relay was memorable as he edged French superstar Alain Bernard to help Michael Phelps gain one of his eight golds. A father of two, Lezak most recently earned a bronze medal with the 400 free relay team at the 2011 world championships.
