Career Highlights: Sanderson had a chance to win gold in the 25-meter rapid fire pistol at the 2008 Olympics, but a poor showing in the finals kept him from taking home a medal. He’ll seek redemption for that performance during his second appearance in the games. Sanderson had the top qualifying score in Beijing, but posted the lowest one out of six finalists and finished fifth. Since 2008, the U.S. Army sergeant first class and marksmanship unit member has earned five World Cup medals, including his only gold during a return to Beijing in 2009. He finished third at the 2011 World Cup finals. In addition to his eight years of service in the U.S. Army, Sanderson spent eight years in the Marines and was the chief marksmanship instructor at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
