Career Highlights: LaCava will make his Summer Games debut after helping the American lightweight four (Anthony Fahden, Will Newell and Robin Prendes) win the final Olympic qualification event in May. LaCava, 25, and Newell were part of the lightweight eight team that finished fifth at the 2011 world championships. A native of Weston, Conn., LaCava has been rowing since 2000. He was part of the 10th-place team in the lightweight four at the 2010 worlds, taking 12th the year before at that event. LaCava earned an economics degree from Columbia University in 2009 and has enjoyed plenty of success out of the water with his business ventures. He is a co-founder of Chocomize, the first American chocolate company that allows customers to select the ingredients of their chocolate bar. Along with fellow U.S. national rowers Charlie Cole and Jake Cornelius, he also helped create LetterPeg, an online tutoring service.
