  • Career Highlights: One of the cornerstones of a loaded U.S. team, Raisman's power-based style of gymnastics and overall consistency put her among the favorites to medal in London. She was the gold medalist in floor exercise and balance beam and the bronze medalist in all-around at the 2012 national championships. Raisman placed second in all-around behind teammate Jordyn Wieber at the prestigious American Cup this year and third in the 2011 event, behind Wieber and Russian star Aliya Mustafina. She has debuted two new vaults for the Olympics, a 2 1/2 twisting Yurchenko and the very difficult Amanar vault. She employed the latter of those moves at the City of Jesolo Trophy in March, finishing second in the all-around to teammate Kyla Ross. She won bronze at the 2011 worlds in floor exercise while contributing to the United States' victory in all-around. Though not as highly regarded as Wieber, Raisman's steadiness is perhaps her biggest asset as she eyes the all-around Olympic title. Like training partner and U.S. alternate Alicia Sacramone, her power allows her to excel on beam, vault and floor, with uneven bars being her weakest event. The oldest member of the five-woman U.S. squad at 18, Raisman provides leadership and a veteran presence for a team heavily favored to take all-around gold in London.
