Career Highlights: The son of three-time Olympic foil fencer Greg Massialas, Alexander became the youngest athlete to win a men's foil Division I national championship at age 16 in 2010 - a year after competing on his first senior world championship team. Coached by his father and Dean Hinton, Massialas is ranked No. 1 in the United States and 11th in the world. He was the individual gold medalist at the Pan American Games last year while also earning team gold at that event, and he won silver at the junior worlds as well in 2011. He added individual and team golds at the cadet worlds last year - his second straight individual cadet gold - and took individual bronzes at the Seoul Grand Prix and USA Fencing National Championships. In 2012, he won individual bronzes at the Paris Foil World Cup and the January North American Cup. Massialas has been a part of the last three senior world teams and will be making his first Olympic appearance.
