Karen O’Connor and her husband, 2000 Olympic gold medalist David, share two Olympic medals and have been instrumental parts of the U.S. team since the late 1980s. Karen was a member of the 1988 Olympic team and earned team silver at the 1996 Atlanta Games, while winning bronze in team competition at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She was part of the world championship squad in 1994 and 1998, picking up a team bronze in 1998. In the 2007 Pan American Games, she won individual and team golds with the pony Theodore O'Connor. O’Connor competed at her fourth Olympic Games in 2008 with Mandiba. She will be riding Mr. Medicott in London, and the pairing has proved to be formidable as horse and rider won the Bromont CIC3* this year. O'Connor shows her dedication for the sport in a variety of ways, as she serves on the USEF Board of Directors, is very active in the United States Eventing Association instructor certification program and teaches riders of all ages.
