He and synchronized platform partner David Boudia have finished first in six consecutive national competitions and figure to have a realistic shot at a medal in London after winning gold at this year's FINA Diving World Series event in Tijuana, Mexico. In the individual platform, McCrory finished second to Boudia at the U.S. Olympic trials in June, but took first place at the 2011 national championships. His best international finish individually was a fourth-place effort at a World Series event earlier this year. McCrory's uncle, Gordon Downie, won a swimming bronze medal for Britain at the 1976 Olympics.
