Career Highlights: As the American record holder in the high jump, Lowe will make her third Olympic appearance with hopes of medaling for the first time. Lowe is a five-time U.S. outdoor champion in the high jump, and her leap of 2.05 meters at the 2010 meet ranks as the best ever by an American. Following that record, Lowe sat out most of 2011 after giving birth to her second daughter in April of that year. She has appeared strong in her return in 2012, setting a national indoor record at the USA indoor championships (2.02m), besting her own meet record at the Drake Relays (1.98m) and finishing first in the U.S. trials (2.01m) for a spot in the Olympics. She finished sixth at the 2008 Games with a jump of 1.99m, and as a 20-year-old in 2004, her jump of 1.85m failed to qualify her for the finals in Athens. Lowe went to Georgia Tech, where she won three NCAA championships in the high jump, and also competed in the long jump, triple jump and sprint events.
