Career Highlights: The heartbreak of failing to qualify for the marathon team stuck with Hastings for months, but it also served as motivation. Hastings was expected to be the favorite in the marathon at the U.S. trials earlier this year in Houston, but finished fourth. She put that disappointment behind her by winning the 10K at the trials with a time of 31:58.36. "Coming across the finish line, it was night and day different," she said. "It was heartbreaking in Houston. I can't even believe it right now." Hastings, an All-American at Arizona State, set a personal best in the 10K of 31:19.87 in April at the Payton Jordan Invitational. She finished second in the 5K at the 2011 USA outdoor track and field championships with a time of 15:14.31, and took second in last year's Los Angeles Marathon - her first 26.2-mile event - clocking in at 2:27:03.
