  • Career Highlights: Suhr has been the No. 1 ranked women’s pole vaulter in the U.S. since 2006, and enters the London Games trying to become just the second American female to win gold in the event at the Olympics. She owns the three best jumps in the world over the past two years and earned a spot in London after clearing 4.60 meters to win the event at the U.S. track trials. She earned the silver medal at the Beijing Games with a jump of 4.80 meters, finishing behind Russia’s Yelena Isinbayeva, who set a world record by clearing 5.05 meters. At the 2008 U.S. Olympic trails, she set an American record with a jump of 4.92 meters. Suhr has won six USA outdoor championships since 2006 but failed to take the gold in 2011, when she struggled with fatigue and was diagnosed with Celiac disease. Suhr graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y., as the school’s all-time leading scorer in women’s basketball and led the team to the 2004 NAIA national championship game.
