Career Highlights: As Fountain embarks on her second straight trip to the Olympics, she remains America’s best chance for a medal in the women’s heptathlon. The five-time USA Outdoor champion won silver at the Beijing Games, upgrading from bronze after Ukranian Lyudmila Blonska tested positive on her drug test. Fountain’s silver in China was the first Olympic heptathlon medal won by an American athlete since Jackie Joyner-Kersee's back-to-back golds in 1988 and '92. The 31-year-old has been troubled recently by a neck injury, but proved her form and fitness by winning the U.S. Olympic trials in June. Fountain will face still competition in London from Russia’s Tatyana Chernova, the current world champion and 2008 Olympic bronze medalist; Ukraine’s Nataliya Dobrynska, the 2008 Olympic champion; and local British favorite Jessica Ennis.
