Career Highlights: Flanagan set a U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials record of 2:25:38 - besting the former mark by 2:47 - on Jan. 14 to earn a spot in the London Games. It was just the second marathon ever run by Flanagan, who had formerly specialized in middle-distance events. She ran the 10,000 meters in her Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Games and took bronze with a time of 30:22.22 - a new American record. She won the 10,000 meters at the 2011 USA Outdoor Championships (30:59.57) and took bronze in the 2011 World Cross-Country Championships (25:10), becoming the first non-African born medalist in the event since 2004. She is also a two-time USA Outdoor 5,000-meter champion ('05 and '07) and a three-time USA Cross-Country 8-km champion ('08, '10 and '11).
