Career Highlights: Gibb will be making his second Olympic appearance after he and partner Sean Rosenthal reached the quarterfinals in Beijing in 2008 as the seventh-ranked tandem in the 24-team field. The pair has shown steady improvement ahead of London and secured their spots in London by winning in Rome in June _ posting a straight-set victory over the Brazilian duo of Emanuel Rego and Alison Cerutti for their first FIVB Grand Slam title. They beat Rego and Cerutti again in the finals of the next FIVB event in Switzerland for their fourth overall title after defeating reigning Olympic gold medalists Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser in the semifinals. In five Grand Slam events in 2012, Gibb has reached three finals, one semifinal and one quarterfinal. In Beijing, Gibb and Rosenthal were eliminated by Rego and Ricardo Santos after winning their first four matches. Gibb and Rosenthal have been partners since 2006, with their other titles coming in Acapulco in 2006 and in Prague in 2008. Prior to teaming with Rosenthal, Gibb played with Stein Metzger for the 2005 season. Gibb is one of the few players without a collegiate volleyball background, not taking up beach volleyball until playing with his twin brother Coleman at the age of 21. He also has the fitting middle name of Spiker.
