Career Highlights: Kapachinskaya made the long road back from a two-year doping ban and the death of her mother to make her Olympic debut in 2008 at Beijing, helping Russia win the silver medal in the 4x400 meter relay. She also placed fifth in those Games in the 400. Kapachinskaya's suspension was a result of a positive test for a banned anabolic steroid after she won the 200 at the 2004 IAAF world indoor championships. Prior to her ban, she won a bronze in the 4x400 at the 2001 world championships, then earned silver in that discipline and took gold in the 200 at the 2003 worlds. Kapachinskaya went on to earn four more medals at major events following the 2008 Games. In the 4x400, she won bronze medals at the 2009 and 2011 worlds and a gold medal at the 2010 European Championships. Kapachinskaya also took home the bronze in the 400 at the 2011 worlds.
