  • Career Highlights: In 2011, Yazdani became the first non-Russian to win a World or Olympic title since 2004, when he beat Turkey’s Serhat Balci to become World champion. He added that title to a trophy case that also includes a gold medal at the 2010 Asian championships. Yazdani is a two-time reigning Asian Games champion, having won gold in 2006 and 2010. He competed in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, finishing 11th. He won bronze medals at both the 2006 and 2007 world championships.
