  • Career Highlights: Indian rower Sawarn Singh Virk is an Army officer from Pune. He became the first Indian rower to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics after qualifying for the Single Sculls finals at the Asian Regatta Championship in Chungju, South Korea. Singh qualified in the men's singles sculls event (M1X) after facing some stiff competition from other Asian rowers. He is being coached by Dronacharya awardee Ismail Baig at the Hussain Sagar Lake National Rowing Camp since 2005. Sawarn Singh will look to continue his impressive form and help India secure a medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
