Career Highlights: Indian archer Rahul Banerjee was inspired to take up the sport by his sister Dola Banerjee, who is one of India’s finest women archers. He made his maiden international appearance in the 2004 Youth World Championship, winning the first-ever world level medal for India with a silver medal in the team event. Banerjee went on to win two gold medals and a silver in three successive World Cups - in 2008, 2009 and 2010. He followed it up with another gold medal in the Men’s Individual Recurve event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi. An even better year followed, granting the Indian Recurve Team the World No.1 Rank after they bagged a silver medal at the 2011 World Cup held in Croatia. He was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2011. The team, comprising the trio of Tarundeep Rai, Jayanta Talukdar and Banerjee ensured a berth for themselves at the 2012 London Olympics after they finished second in the final qualifiers held in Ogden, USA.
