  • Career Highlights: Limbach will make his second Olympic appearance after failing to medal in the Beijing Games. Ranked No. 1 in the world, he won individual gold at the 2009 world championships and earned individual silvers in 2010 and '11. He was also the silver medalist at the 2010 European championships and the World Cup champion in '09 and '10. Limbach is only the second German to have won a gold medal in saber, joining Felix Becker in 1994. He comes from a fencing family, as both parents participated in the sport and his younger sister Anna is a former junior world champion who's also eyeing an Olympic berth. Limbach is coached by 1984 Olympic bronze medalist Vilmos Szabo of Romania.
