Career Highlights: An imposing figure in the sand, Reckermann will be making his second Olympic appearance for Germany but first since 2004. While his partner Julius Brink teamed with Christoph Dieckmann in 2008, Reckermann went to the Athens Olympics with Christoph’s twin brother Markus and placed ninth after advancing out of pool play. Reckermann began his partnership with Brink in 2009, and the duo was an instant success, setting an FIVB record with a 25-match winning streak while posting four victories and eight top-three finishes. The pair ended a winless drought dating to 2009 last year by taking the European Championship, their sixth title together. Reckermann does have a victory over superstar Emanuel Rego in his native Brazil in 2004 to his credit.
