Career Highlights: Olympic gold medallist Tom James is part of the men’s four for Team GB at London 2012. A graduate of Cambridge University, James took part in the Boat Race in four of the five years between 2003 and 2007, losing the first three and winning his final race as president of the light blues. After qualifying for the Beijing Olympics in the eight boat, James was selected for the flagship men’s fours and won gold, beating Australia in a close-run final. Awarded the MBE in the Queen’s honours list for services to sport in 2009, James returned to the sport in 2010 and, alongside Matthew Langridge, Alex Gregory and Ric Egington, won gold in the both Munich and Lucerne in the 2011 World Cup Series. The same foursome beat Greece and Australia to gold at the 2011 World Championships in Slovenia, cementing their place as one of the favourites for the title at London.
