  • Career Highlights: Eight-time British number one, William Fox-Pitt will be competing for medals in Team and Individual eventing. Fox-Pitt has an Olympic silver and bronze to his name and is the only rider in the history of eventing to have won all five of the world’s four-star events - Badminton, Kentucky, Luhmuhlen, Burghley and Pau. Born into an eventing family and educated at the famous Eton College, Fox-Pitt took up the sport at the age of 15 and represented Great Britain throughout his teens. He has won six European gold medals and one world gold in team eventing, but has only ever managed individual silver in major championships. Favourite for the title in Athens, an injury to his horse Tamarillo forced him to withdraw from the competition. Fox-Pitt holds the record for the most wins at the Burghley Horse Trials, with the most recent of his six titles coming in 2011. Along with veteran female rider Mary King he led the Olympic team to medals in Athens and Beijing, and will be looking to go one better in 2012 despite strong competition from the likes of German and Austria.
