  • Weight: 141 lbs / 64.0 kg
  • Born: 3/12/1981

  • Career Highlights: Veteran diver Peter Waterfield is the oldest member of the British diving team and will partner young starlet Tom Daley in the 10 metre synchro event. Waterfield has a strong Olympic record and - along with dive partner Leon Taylor - became the first Briton to win an Olympic dive medal since 1960 when they claimed silver in the 10 metre synchro at the 2004 Athens Games. A fourth-place finish in the 2000 Games had hinted at Waterfield’s promise, but he failed to build on the success of Athens with a disappointing performance in Beijing, failing to qualify for the final round of the competition. With a 2002 Commonwealth individual gold to his name and silver in the following Games in 2006, Waterfield had the pedigree that prompted British Swimming’s decision to partner him with 2009 World Champion Tom Daley for the build-up to London 2012. Waterfield has admitted that Daley will be the pin-up boy of the pair, but remains confident of medalling - although the consistently strong Chinese team will provide strong competition as they defend their Olympic crown.
