  • Weight: 254 lbs / 115.2 kg

  • Career Highlights: Coming off what many considered to be his worst NBA season, Gasol will have a lot to live up to after leading all scorers in each of the past two Olympics. He averaged 22.4 points and 7.3 rebounds in 2004 as Spain placed seventh, then led a silver-medal run in 2008 while averaging 19.6 points and 7.0 boards. Instrumental in turning Spain into an international powerhouse, he'll team with younger brother Marc in an effort to get his country Olympic gold. The elder Gasol, though, was heavily criticized for his play this season - and especially a lackluster playoff performance - after the Los Angeles Lakers tried to trade him during the offseason. Taken with the third overall pick of the 2001 NBA draft, Gasol won Rookie of the Year honors and went on to become a superstar with the Memphis Grizzlies. After becoming the Grizzlies' franchise leader in 12 different statistical categories, including points and rebounds, Gasol was traded to Los Angeles during the 2007-08 season. He teamed with Kobe Bryant to help the Lakers reach the NBA finals that year, and they won titles each of the next two seasons. Gasol, who also won a European championship in 2009 as he was named tournament MVP, has career averages of 18.7 points and 9.2 rebounds in the NBA. The three-time All-Star can dominate a game using his size and knowledge, and he'll even contribute on the defensive end with his shot-blocking ability.
