Career Highlights: Fourth at the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, Gomez heads to London as one of the favorites to win the men's event. He is a two-time ITU World Triathlon champion, winning the overall gold medal in 2008 and 2010. Gomez ranked first in the world triathlon rankings in 2010. He finished third overall in the world rankings in 2011 behind Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee from Great Britain _ likely Gomez's only true threats for gold in London. He was the ITU World Cup overall champion from 2006-2008. Gomez was the European champion in 2007 and 2009, and also was crowned the under-23 world champion in 2003.
