Career Highlights: Lu is considered a favorite to win gold in London. He took gold at the 2011 world championships after raising 170 kilograms in the snatch and 205 in the clean and jerk for a total of 375 to slip past countryman Daijin Su. Lu’s gold came after winning a silver medal at the same event in 2010, but that wasn’t better than the effort he produced in 2009. It was then when he set two world records - 174 kilograms in the snatch and an aggregate of 378 kilos - en route to winning gold. Lu won a gold medal in the clean and jerk event at China’s national championships in April with a lift of 201 kilos.
