Career Highlights: Wu competed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics but failed to win a medal. He made the 200 meter butterfly final in Athens at the age of 17 and became the only Chinese swimmer to finish in the top eight at those Games. He reached the finals again in the 200 fly in Beijing but settled for fourth place. Wu took home a silver medal in his favorite event at the 2007 world championships, losing out to Michael Phelps. But Wu got a small measure of revenge at the 2011 Michigan Grand Prix, when he won the 200 fly and ended Phelps' long winning streak in one of his signature events. Wu bested the 14-time Olympic medalist again to win the same event in May at the Charlotte UltraSwim Grand Prix. Having already declared that London will be his final Olympics, Wu is realistic about his goals there against the heavily favored Phelps. "If I just get any medal in London, I will be happy," Wu said. "Everyone wants to beat Michael because Michael is the fastest swimmer in the world. But I really just want to be top three."
