Career Highlights: Yi has only been competing internationally for a little more than three years, but is still considered a strong contender for a medal as she heads into her first Olympics. The 23-year-old rifle shooter is the reigning world champ in the 10-meter event, posting a record score of 505.6 while claiming that title. Yi also won a gold at the 2011 World Cup finals and has already racked up eight other medals during stops in that series, including three golds. One of those medals was a silver in the 10-meter air rifle at the Royal Artillery Barracks, the London venue for this year’s Games. Yi finished first at the 2012 Asian shooting championships, following up on a gold medal she took home from the 2010 Asian Games.
