Career Highlights: Holmes will be making his Olympic debut in London and has been part of the national squad since 2009. The middle blocker was a key component of the squad that clinched the Olympic spot by winning the NORCECA Men’s Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament in May, finishing fifth on the team with 33 points _ 21 by kill with a .714 hitting efficiency and 75.0 kill percent. Holmes shared top U.S. blocking honors in the final round of the World League, finishing with eight _ also good for a tie for sixth among all players. A four-year player for the U.S. in the World League, Holmes saw his first World Cup action in 2011 and finished fourth on the team with 59 points, and was 21st overall among blockers. He also has bounced around at the club level, spending two seasons with Austrian squad HYPO Tirol before joining Brazil’s Vivo/Minas in 2010. He was named the Best Server at the 2011 FIVB Club World Championship tournament, helping Polish side Jastrzebski Wegiel to a second-place finish.
