Career Highlights: Back surgery forced Perdue to miss the NCAA championships in March, but she recovered in time to earn her first Olympic bid at June's U.S. trials. The University of Virginia star finished fourth in the 200 freestyle, securing her spot on the 4x200 relay team for the Games. Perdue swam through pain during her senior season as a small piece of bone from one of her vertebrae had broken off. She delayed surgery but finally decided she could not compete through the pain any longer. Perdue is a decorated collegiate performer, winning Atlantic Coast Conference swimmer of the year in 2010 and 2011. She won 17 ACC championships in various events through her NCAA career. Perdue's father, Phil, was an All-American swimmer at Virginia in the 1980s.
