Career Highlights: Kiefer qualified for her first Olympics after a season in which she captured two gold medals in the January North American Cup, winning in Division I and junior competition. The bronze medalist at the 2011 senior world championships had earned enough points to qualify for the Games in March, and, not needing to compete in the Division I national championships in April to secure a spot, chose to skip the event. Kiefer’s huge 2011 put her on track for London, as she was the only fencer to earn individual medals in the senior, junior and cadet world championships that year. She won seven golds, four silvers and a bronze combined in individual and team competition in ‘11. Kiefer, whose father was a fencer at Duke, was the youngest member of the 2009 senior world team at 15. She has been a part of the last three senior world championship squads.
