- Career Highlights: Day, the 2011 USA Outdoor heptathlon champion, enjoyed early success as a high jumper before moving on to compete in the multi-discipline heptathlon. She represented the United States in the high jump at the Beijing Games four years ago. The 27-year-old booked her spot in London by finishing second - behind fellow Olympian Hyleas Fountain - at the U.S. Olympic trials in June. She scored a career-high 6,343 points at the event. Day and Fountain will face stiff competition at the Games from Russia’s Tatyana Chernova, the current world champion and 2008 Olympic bronze medalist; Ukraine’s Nataliya Dobrynska, the 2008 Olympic champion; and local British favorite Jessica Ennis.
