  • Career Highlights: Schultz earned a discretionary pick from USA Cycling, becoming the first native of Missoula, Mont., to secure an Olympic spot since freestyle skier Eric Bergoust competed at the 2002 Salt Lake Games. Owner of the top American average finish in 2012 World Cup events, Schultz won his first mountain bike national championship five years earlier when he claimed the under-23 cross-country title. He was second at the 2011 national championships, marking his best finish on the elite circuit. Schultz was a member of the 2007 relay team that finished third at the mountain bike world championships. He has followed in the footsteps of his older brother, Andy, a former mountain bike national champion who has enjoyed success as a professional racer.
