- Career Highlights: Huerta is set to make his Olympic debut, qualifying for the London Games by finishing with a time of 1 hour, 49 minutes and 31 seconds at an ITU World Series race in May. A silver medalist at the 2011 Pan American Games, Huerta was named USA Triathlon's Olympic/ITU Athlete of the Year last season. He was the top American finisher - coming in 25th - at the 2011 World Cup event held on the same London course the Olympians will tackle this summer. A native of Cuba, Huerta moved to the United States with his family at age 13 and soon became a standout cross-country runner at Florida Atlantic University. Fluent in Spanish, Huerta considers the proudest moment of his life to be when he became a United States citizen in 2003. A winner of the first triathlon he ever entered as a child in Cuba, he splits his time living and training between Miami and Costa Rica.
