Nichols went into the 2008 Games as the ninth-ranked archer in the world but lost in the second round. She won two matches in 2004 to reach the round of 16. Nichols is a two-time Pan Am Games gold medalist and has placed in the top 10 at four outdoor/indoor world championships. Her highest finish was second place at the 2003 indoor worlds. She also teamed with fellow Olympian Brady Ellison to break a FITA world record in Turkey in June 2010, defeating Russia 152-120 in the semifinals of the mixed competition. In Athens, Nichols was the first Olympic athlete to compete at Panathinaikos Stadium since the Games were held in Athens in 1896. The Cheyenne, Wyo., native is set to get married in September.
