  • Career Highlights: Leverenz will swim two events in London in her first Olympics. She guaranteed herself a spot on the team with a second-place finish in the 400-meter individual medley at the U.S. trials and won the 200 IM in dominant fashion. Leverenz also placed eighth in the 200 breaststroke. She nearly qualified for the Beijing Games but placed third in the 200 breast at the trials. One of her most memorable wins came when she held off Olympic champion Stephanie Rice of Australia to win the 200 IM at the Santa Clara Grand Prix in June. Leverenz took home bronze medals in the 200 and 400 IM at the 2010 Pan Pacifics, and she won the 400 IM and took second in the 200 IM at nationals that year. Leverenz, currently attending the University of California where she has eight NCAA championship medals, won the 400 IM and 200 breast at the 2011 Michigan Grand Prix.
