Career Highlights: After contemplating a transition into mixed martial arts, Cejudo will head to London looking to repeat as a gold medalist in the 55kg freestyle event. Cejudo made national headlines at the 2008 Games in Bejiing, becoming the youngest American to win an Olympic wrestling gold medal by accomplishing the feat at just 21. His rise to stardom began two years earlier, when he became the first high schooler ever to win the U.S. nationals. After numerous television appearances exploiting his Olympic accomplishment, Cejudo began discussions with Japanese MMA promoters to possibly begin a career in that sport. He also discussed a transition to boxing, with both opportunities offering the potential upside of a bigger payout. However, Cejudo recommitted himself to wrestling in May 2011 - helped, no doubt, by a new fund established to pay American gold-medal winners $250,000. No matter the reason, Cejudo is back into training mode with his eye on another gold.
