Analysis: Zigomanis has been out with an undisclosed injury he suffered Dec. 3 at the New York Rangers. He's missed the last 16 games (5-11-0) and hasn't practiced or skated in over a month. It's unclear how far he is from returning. He was Pittsburgh's best faceoff man, winning 62.9 percent of his draws, and was a valuable contributor on penalty kills. He also added two goals and four assists for six points in 22 games. Pittsburgh acquired him in a trade from Phoenix on Oct. 9. |

Zigomanis, a second-round draft pick of Carolina in 2001, has 19 goals and 14 assists in 167 career NHL games with the Hurricanes, Coyotes and St. Louis Blues. Analysis: The 27-year-old Zigomanis had 14 goals and nine assists in 75 games for the Coyotes in 2006-07, but had just two goals and one assist in 33 games last season. He was placed on waivers last week, went unclaimed and was assigned to San Antonio in the AHL. |
