Scouting Report |
40 time: 5.02 Projection: Sixth Round OVERVIEW: Joined the Badgers as a walk-on and redshirted his first year but started the season opener in 2018. He was placed on scholarship during the 2018 season and continued to pull in starts. A torn biceps during the COVID-shortened 2020 season led to minimal attention around Henningsen from draftniks, but NFL scouts have kept tabs on the physical run defender. Had his most productive season in 2021, collecting 34 tackles and six tackles for a loss and receiving an invite to the East-West Shrine Bowl. Strengths: Uses his length effectively to lock out blocks and create opportunities to separate. Pushes the pace with his leg drive and forces linemen to work overtime to anchor down. Natural power generator who can collapse the pocket effectively. Strong finisher who has the upper body strength to bring down runners without trouble. Still learning to maximize his power, but his push-pull move has a ton of potential to it. Weaknesses: Mild burst makes him easy to read on the way in for blockers. Combinations and counters are underdeveloped and his rush pattern is a bit too predictable. Frame looks maxed out at around 295 pounds, and it's nothing out of the ordinary for an NFL lineman. Below average balance and body control. Pro Comp: Joe Gaziano, LA Chargers -- Gaziano isn't as bulky but his size and play strength have helped him to work into a rotational role in Los Angeles. Henningsen should provide more juice as an interior rusher. |
