|The Trufant family seems to breed NFL cornerbacks, and another is ready to contribute at the next level. Following brothers Marcus (Seattle) and Isaiah (New York Jets), Desmond will get his turn to take the NFL stage - and, like Marcus, could do so as a first-round selection. After being named to the All-Pac-12 first team as a senior at Washington, Trufant is getting plenty of attention from teams with a first-day pick. He ran a 4.38 40-yard dash at the scouting combine, proving he has the speed necessary to defend quicker NFL receivers and not get beat deep. That type of speed also helps Trufant get around receivers attempting to block on running plays. Though his speed is well-documented, he's also been known to be physical and fight for the ball in traffic. Trufant, though, isn't the strongest of players and will need to hit the weight room and bulk up a bit to better help him defend bigger NFL receivers. He also likes to take gambles, which can leave him out of position to make plays in both the passing and running games. Trufant's speed and agility could be enough to get him selected in the first round, but at worst he won't slip very far into the second round.
